Okay I need some input on a pretty serious situation I have going on. As most of you know I am about 5 months pregnant. It hasn't been an easy pregnancy to say the least and I am considered "high risk". To complicate matters Daniel has had to take me to the hospital in Newberg because the one here in McMinnville doesn't bother to check the baby or anything when I go in with severe cramping or a migraine and majority of the time they tell me I am fine and to go home and take tylenol which I have already taken and they cannot ethically treat me since I am pregnant. Okay...here's the problem. My OBGYN doesn't have priveledges at the Newberg hospital which means he can only deliver the baby here at the McMinnville hospital. This past weekend I began to spot bleed and cramp severely bad and called my OBGYN and was told to go to the birthing center here at the hospital in McMinnville. Okay we did so and they told us that according to their little wheel I wasn't quite 20 weeks pregnant so they couldn't do anything for me since my baby wasn't "viable". They then said go to the ER. I was like "not here...I am tired of them telling me they can't treat me based on me being pregnant and not even checking out the baby." So they made me sign a little paper to "cover their ass" which I put a note on WHY I was going to a different hospital right on it and then signed it. And it didn't paint them in a flattering light. Here is the thing I am wrestling with. I am half way through the pregnancy and seriously considering switching doctors so I can have the baby at the Newberg hospital where the staff actually seems to give a damn what happens to me and the baby. But my family thinks I am stupid because my OBGYN is "the best" yet I am hearing more and more bad things about this hospital and their birthing center. My OBGYN doesn't like that my neurologist put me back on my migraine preventative and something for the migraines either but he referred me back to the neurologist since my migraines are out of control. Anyone who gets migraines knows that taking tylenol for them is like shooting a BB Gun at a freight train....it doesn't slow it down OR even remotely come close to stopping it. So what would you do? Would you say fuck it and switch to a hospital that you get excellent care at and not a run around and risk maybe not having as "good" of an OBGYN or would you just risk being in full blown labor and for instance having an epidural where they forget to even turn the pain medication pump on when you are in full blown labor???

And a side note...I am STILL completely irritated that they refused to help me because according to that damn wheel I lacked 2 days of being 20 weeks so to them the baby wasn't "viable". Who says that shit to an expectant Mother who is having problems????

Fuk them...go where you get good care especially
since you suffer from migraines and NEED that
medication! Life sucks with a migraine when
you are not pregnant let alone being pregnant,
miserable and a migraine on top of it all!

make the switch...go for the best care available NOW...baby first...girl second...can always switch back later if you want...its never a permanent choice when it comes to doctors...or dentists...or anything of the sort...freedom of choice is a beautiful thing...

Oh it all gets better. I talked to my Mom who works at my Primary care doctors' office and she told me that chances are if I switch doctors to have the baby at the Newberg hospital that they won't accept my baby as a patient so I will have to try and find a pediatrician elsewhere. Nice huh?

I think I've already said a few times that switching would be a good thing. If it were me, I would be more comfortable over at the hospital in newberg. Think of it this way, they did this when it wasn't life threatening for you.... If you went in there with a life threatening condition, would they say you weren't a viable option and so not do the things necessary to save your life? If I in a position where I could die from something, and it was one of those things, I think I would go more peacefully knowing that the doctor had done everything humanly possible to help, then some good for nothing doctor pissed off because he is late for a coffee break saying "sorry I know your dying, but I really can't do anything." Some hospitals and doctors irritate the living fuck out of me, especially when it comes to a baby who can't even breath on its own yet...

Switch ASAP girl...the only reason some place would refuse your babyis if they aren't accepting new patients at that time and if thats the case they'll usually refer you to another good pediatrician...had to do that with Nat!! SWITCH for the baby's sake and for your peace of mind!!

I am getting so fed up with doctors. I feel like here in town I get the runaround and at least in Newberg they don't play the go here, no go there game. We have the ultrasound here in Mac on Tuesday and I am going to call and find out from my OB about the issues I am having with this hospital before I do anything.
